My First Time Being a Vendor!

What an amazing experience! I exhibited at my very first festival, put my work and myself out there! Steve and I had been prepping, studying vendor set ups, tents, displays... everything! We shopped and bought, had prints and stickers made, it was all so fun and yet a bit scary. I tried very hard to not let the “what if’s“ start. That can go negative so fast and stop so many good things. Ultimately I was able to keep them at bay for the most part.
My first time to have a vendor booth and it was at Maize Days in Murphy Texas! What a fun event it is and I just love Murphy Texas! The set up went very well - the day was really hot but that didn’t stop anyone from enjoying the events. Nervous but excited, I was living my dream. I tried to prepare myself for no sales, comments that might hurt, I was ready.
What I didn’t anticipate was the kindness, the thoughtful words and the amazing conversations! I couldn’t believe the wonderful comments that I received and by so many different people! I was not prepared for that and it went straight to my heart. Some people gave me advise such as “I really like your style, but you should really focus more on watercolor - you do that best”. lol I didn’t hear that from just one person but several. It caught me off guard but I really appreciated the comments. I had some amazing conversations, some with the cutest of kids, a breast cancer survivor that has gotten into photography, so many wonderful people and conversations. I wasn’t expecting that and it meant so much to me! I heard such words of encouragement and kindness. What an amazing experience!
At the end of the day we packed up the tent and all its contents and though we were exhausted my heart was so full. Now, while I sit in my studio such wonderful memories flood my mind. I am very thankful for the experience and opportunity. I look forward to the time in my studio to create but I also look forward to the next event!
